Darshiny Chandran was crowned Miss Saree Queen Kamdar 1993 in Kuala Lumpur. She won return air tickets to Madras, RM1000 cash, a crown, sash and other gifts from sponsors. The second and third place winners were given free trip to Langkawi. C. Darshiny beat 10 other contestants from around the country. Her triumph was a sweet one as she also beat the Perak Saree Queen M. Parameswary as at the Perak state level, Darshiny only won second place.
