Lina Chua was selected to represent Malaysia In Miss Wonderland International 1988 which was held in Taiwan. Lina Chua who was also Miss Malaysia Asia Pacific 1988 1st runner up left for Taiwan on November 6 amde a stopover in Hong Kong to gather with other foreign participants before moving on to Taipei on November 8.
In Taiwan, she wore among others, a Kelantanese traditional dress for national costume round and auctioning batik sarong at an event there. For the talent round, she performed Kadazan traditional dance. Lina Chua was also an experienced beauty queen having won Miss Central Malaysia and Miss Teenage Klang in 1986. Megan Wong, Miss Wonderland 1987 1st runner up was there preparing her for the international contest.
