Chew Sing Yee had an embarrassing moment as she got ready to be crowned Miss Tourism Malaysia 1990 in a contest held in Penang. Toh Puan Hajjah Siti Zainab, the wife of Ynag di-Pertuan Pulau Pinang was about to put the tiara on her head when it was announced that someone else was the winner.
The slip up by the organizer caused red facesall around not only to Chew but also to the other winners. Miss Chew had earlier was given the trophy winner. Contest chairman Eddie Phuah hurriedly came on stage to apologize for the mistake.
