BEING the shortest of all the other 15 finalists did not matter for 19-year-old Natasha Charmaine Rickson when she was crowned Miss Borneo Beautiful 2010.

Standing only 155cm tall, she was the shortest finalists ever for the pageant. First runner-up Genevie Wan Anyie towered over her at 180cm. The finale was held at Riverside Majestic Hotel in Kuching on Saturday night.

Natasha, 19, of mixed Iban and Bidayuh parentage from Kuching, said she did not expect to win because of her height.

Natasha not only won herself the Miss Borneo Beautiful 2010 title but also RM5,000 cash and a UCSI University full scholarship for a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism.

She also won the subsidiary title Miss Photogenic, bagging RM500 cash prize.

“I will save the cash prize and pursue my studies at UCSI University,” she told reporters after the pageant.

Natasha is a familiar name in local pageants in Sarawak. Recently, she made a double win as the Dayak Traditional Costume Beauty Pageant second runner-up as well as its Miss Photogenic subsidiary title, organised by Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) during its 1Dayak Ngancau Tikai Pre-Gawai Dinner 2010.

She was also a finalist in the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) 2010 Kumang Gawai pageant.

Meanwhile, Genevie, 23, a Kayan from Miri, won herself RM3,000 cash prize and a 50% discount on UCSI University’s Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism fee.

Second runner-up went to 17-year-old Bidayuh-Kenyah from Miri, Debra Robert. She won RM2,000 cash prize and a 30% discount on UCSI University’s Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism fee.

Third runner-up was Fiona Chan, 18, a Chinese-Kenyah from Bintulu, who won a RM1,000 cash prize.

Corry Angking won the fourth runner-up spot, earning herself RM800 cash prize.

Other finalists did not leave empty-handed as they were also awarded RM300 cash prize for advancing into the finals.

For the subsidiary titles, Miss Personality was won by Rosalind Sajah Robert, 22, an Iban from Kuching; Miss Talent went to Teresa Lee, 18, Chinese-Iban also from Kuching; and Miss Friendship was Joelene Salut Derios, 21, Lun Bawang from Miri. They all received RM500 cash prize.
