PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR, April 28 2011: The nationwide search for MISS UNIVERSE MALAYSIA 2012 will come to an end this weekend at SUNWAY PYRAMID. With more than 700 qualified candidates to date already identified, the race to find Malaysia’s Hip, Urban, Relevant and Real women to represent the country is becoming an increasingly exciting one as women from all walks of Malaysian life have come out in force to try and be our nation’s representative to Miss Universe 2012.
Happening at Sunway Pyramid on 30 April 2011 and 01 May 2011 between 11:00am and 7:00 pm daily, the nationwide casting call will then proceed into its shortlisting process for the next stage of the selection. Early birds stand a chance to receive a FREE make-over, courtesy of Xpression Master, Rimmel London and A Cut Above stylists as well as other prizes! There will also be live music performances and other entertainment on hand that is simply not to be missed!

These casting calls are the beginning of Malaysia’s most sought after beauty pageant title - Miss Malaysia and Miss Universe Malaysia. They seek qualified Malaysian women to compete in the Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 national pageant and a new Reality Television Show.
Featuring major changes to the way beauty pageants are held in Malaysia, the pageant seeks to identify and groom the next candidate to represent Malaysia at Miss Universe in 2012.
“We’re crowning Miss Universe Malaysia a year in advance from now on, to allow for more time to make her SHINE before she competes at Miss Universe. The turnout to date has been tremendous and we’re hoping to see many more amazing Malaysian women coming to join us this weekend at the last stop on our nationwide search for the best Malaysian women represent the country and all of us at Miss Universe 2012,” explained Andrea Fonseka, National Director of the Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation. Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 will be crowned in November this year. The 2012 Miss Universe Malaysia search features RM200,000 in prizes and opportunities to the winning candidate and various other subsidiary title holders.
Celebrity, model and television personality Deborah Henry, who recently won the Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 title, will represent Malaysia at Miss Universe 2011 in Sao Paolo, Brazil on September 12, 2011.
The nationwide search is the first step towards finding the next Miss Universe Malaysia candidate and ensuring that she continues to work her way towards becoming the FIRST Malaysian Miss Universe in history!
This year also features the FIRST TIME that a reality television show will be used as part of the qualification process.
Here’s how it works:
· The national search will allow aspiring Miss Universe Malaysia’s to nominate themselves by having their pictures taken at the venues. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet the judges in Kuala Lumpur with the lucky 50 being selected for the next stage
· The shortlisted candidates will then be placed within a sealed and secured SECRET location where they will undergo training, grooming and challenges – all on reality television (which we’ll reveal the details of later!)
· The final 10 from this show will then be judged on Gala Night with the winner being crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2012
Qualifying Requirements for Miss Universe Malaysia
The contestant must be between the ages of 18 and under 27 as of February 01 2012, non-married and non-Muslim. She must not be divorced; must never have been married or had a marriage annulled; and must not have had children. A Malaysian or Malaysian passport holder, she must also have a minimum height of 163 cm.

PAGEANTIsland dapat rasakan para peminat juga dah tak sabar untuk datang memeriahkan acara terakhir kan...ok lah, sebelum tu, mari kita lihat aksi Deborah semasa di press conference kat 1Borneo.

Miss Global pageant is Miri fest’s biggest draw card.
MIRI: In a week, the city will once again bask in the Miri May Fest (MMF) although the event is expected to be less grand than last year’s.
It is understood that the launch will be low-key simply because it is just another year, unlike last year’s which coincided with the 100th anniversary of oil discovery in Miri.
Last year, more than 50 events were lined up – this time there are just 30.
Nonetheless, the organisers of the MMF’s highlight, the Miss Global International Malaysia (MGIM) 2011, are not perturbed by the shorter list of events.
The MGIM organisers, who call themselves Marlene, Wong, Xiao Jie & A Group of Passionate Young Peeps, said that their 18 beauties, with ages ranging between 18 and 26 and with average height of between 5’5” and 5’10” from all over Malaysia, were certain to draw the crowd.
“All finalists are well-versed in more than two languages, 100% well-educated, 90% in institutions of higher learning, 60% of mixed parentage and half of them first-timers in beauty pageant,” said Marlene Lim.
She said the beauty queen would be heading to Jamaica on Sept 21 for the world finals.

PAGEANTIsland berkesempatan bertemu Mandy di Sunway Pyramid hari Ahad lepas. Best juga dapat berborak panjang dengan beliau serta bercerita serba sedikit mengenai projek yang beliau sedang lakukan sekarang iaitu manganjurkan sekali lagi Miss Earth Sabah 2011. Beliau juga berada di Kuala Lumpur untuk bertemu rakan business dan berbincang tentang perancangan untuk mengembangkan perniagaan beliau di KL.
PAGEANTIsland mangambil kesempatan yang ada bertanya beberapa soalan dan beliau dengan rela hati menjawab walaupun beberapa soalan PAGEANTIsland agak panas!. Ikuti sesi soal jawab PAGEANTIsland , emm, yang telah diedit ye)...hehehe
P: Sudah berpunya?
M: (Agak terperanjat dan tergelak besar), itu bukan soalan la Yu!..hahaha, well, yes I am, tapi xmo cerita lebih la, saya bukan selebriti besar untuk org di luar sana tahu.
P: Di sini jumpa rakan business?
M: Ye, di KK, saya ada event company, saya di sini berbincang untuk berkerjasama dengan rakan kongsi untuk mengembangkan perniagaan, cuma saya belum boleh bagi tahu dengan lebih lanjut.
P: Boleh saya kata MNE Productions Sdn. Bhd. adalah event company no.1 di seluruh Sabah?.

P: Tak nak masuk lagi ke pertandingan ratu cantik, sebab u jauh lebih cantik sekarang berbanding zaman 2007.
M: Memang ada memikirkan untuk masuk lagi tapi saya rasa cukup lah kot, mahu beri muka baru untuk muncul memeriahkan lagi industri ratu cantik negara.
P: Mengapa Miss Earth?, bukan Miss Universe atau Miss World?
M: Isu environment lebih dekat di hati saya, sebab itu saya tetap dengan Miss Earth serta menjadi penganjur pertandingan ini memberi saya lebih ruang untuk lebih aktif membantu masyarakat memahami persekitaran serta mengambil inisiatif untuk menjaganya.
P: Cerita sedikit pengalaman Mandy bertanding dalam Miss Earth.
M: Saya sangat terkejut apabila dipilih memasuki pertandingan akhir swimsuit round. Peserta dibahagi kepada tiga kumpulan besar dan finalis dipilih dari setiap kumpulan termasuklah saya. Bayangkan ramai lagi peserta Eropah dan Amerika selatan yang tinggi-tinggi serta berambut perang dan bermata biru, tetapi saya yang terpilih dari kumpulan saya. Bila mengetahui ramai peminat ratu cantik antarabangsa memuji catwalk saya antara yang terbaik, saya berasa sangat gembira.
P: Apa pendapat Mandy mengenai Miss Earth?
M: Miss Earth contest really walk the talk. Mereka memang berusaha untuk mengembangkan kesedaran masyarakat untuk menjaga alam sekitar. Walau kita melihat para peserta dengan aktiviti menanam pokok sebagai sesuatu yang sangat mudah dan simple, tetapi ia memberi kesan simbolik yang besar untuk semua.
P: Is it easy running a pageant?
M: Running a pageant is not as easy as many people might think, tetapi, saya mempunyai cukup pengetahuan dan passion untuk meneruskan usaha saya. Lagi pun, saya mendapat sokongan padu banyak pihak di Sabah. I feel blessed!.
P: Pesanan untuk peminat Mandy di luar sana?
M: On behalf of Miss Earth Sabah team, saya mengucapkan salam sejahtera untuk semua, gembira selalu, teruskan menyokong Miss Earth Sabah ya. Salam sayang untuk semua. :)
