Former Miss Malaysia speaks out.

Helping hand: Henry (centre) with refugee children at UNHCR’s World Refugees Day event at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur Saturday
KUALA LUMPUR: Passionate about the refugee plight, former Miss Malaysia Deborah Priya Henry is always eager to lend a hand to the cause.
“Imagine if you are suddenly told that you have to leave Malaysia tomorrow with only the clothes on your back – leaving everything you own and everyone you love. That is what refugees experience when they flee their home countries,” she said after emceeing a cultural show by refugee children at the World Refugee Day 2010 celebration organised by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at KL Sentral station here yesterday.
Henry, who has been involved in helping the Somali refugee community run an education centre for their children over the past two years, wished she could help other refugee children in the capital.
