MIRI: Thirty contestants of the Miss Tourism Pageant 2007 had fun at Miri Marriot Resort & Spa (MMRS) yesterday.
The beauty queens from countries spanning all six continents were warmly  welcomed  by the management staff of the award winning 5-star seaside luxury resort.
MMRS is the co-sponsor of the Miss Tourism Pageant 2007, which Sarawak is hosting for the third consecutive year.
The beauty queens were on a visit to Miri as part of their pageant itinerary. They will be parading today at a preview  hosted by Naim Cendera at Miri Civic Centre.
The  Grand Final of the contest will be held in Sibu on   December 7.
By hosting the contestants’ stay in Miri,  MMRS hopes the contestants will have  fond memories of their stay in  the city and  help promote the resort and its unique tourist attractions when they return to their home countries.
MMRS Director of Sales & Marketing, Vathsala Subramaniam said the Miss Tourism Pageant was a great opportunity to highlight Sarawak’s attractions, including its unique and diverse cultures to the world.
“We are pleased to play our part in promoting our state through the pageant,” she added.
The Miss Tourism Pageant 2007 is organised by Alaric’s Productions Company in collaboration with the  Ministry of Urban Development & Tourism and Sibu Development Council.
