Up to press time yesterday, more than 20 girls had confirmed being able to make the trek to The Grand Palladium for the September 26 event.
Belgium, Zambia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, the United States, Angola, the United Kingdom, Botswana, Germany, Guyana, Guadeloupe and Venezuela have confirmed representatives.
These contestants will be added to those from Jamaica, New Zealand, The Bahamas, Canada, Zimbabwe, The Republic of Cape Verde, Egypt, Nigeria, Liberia, The British Virgin Islands, Haiti, Ghana, the United States Virgin Islands.
"Despite the visa issues we faced this year, I am happy to announce that the public can expect the best show yet," said an elated Lachu Ramchandani, organiser of the pageant.
New rates
The Grand Palladium has also made the event special on its calendar by changing its rates.
Persons who want to make the trip normally pay upwards of US$300 per night per couple to stay at the Grand Palladium. For the weekend of the pageant, that price has been dropped to US$150 per couple. The price also includes the cost of the ticket to watch the pageant.
There has been a similar drop in price for staying at the Grand Palladium for a day, which will now cost $50 and gives the ticket holder access to all offerings at the hotel, inclusive of a seat at the pageant.
A ticket to the pageant costs US$20.
This year all proceeds from the show will be going towards the Jamaica Early Childhood Development Foundation, spearheaded by Lorna Golding
