A NURSE-cum-model was crowned Miss Versus Queen 2010 in a beauty contest held recently at Giant Nusa Bestari in Johor Baru.
Masnitta Mawat, a full-time nurse, said she has no difficulty juggling her nursing career with her part-time modelling.

"When I'm at the hospital, my focus is on taking care of the patients, and when I am modelling, I just enjoy the limelight.

"My love for modelling and support from family and colleagues encouraged me to take part in the contest, said Masnitta.
The contest was held to promote the launch of the new Versus handphone.

Masnitta won RM1,000, a video camera and a Versus handphone.

She was also awarded a certificate of participation.

"Although the modelling profession is a glamorous one, I would always want to be a nurse because it is a very fulfilling one," she told reporters after winning the title.

The event was organised by Channel Event And Promotions with the support of GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd, Versus Mobile Phone, Kettler Fitness, Peace Collection, Celeste Concept Bridal Studio, Sasa Essential, Modern Terminal, Estee El and Alibaba Karaoke.

Versus Queen is a modelling contest where age, height and marital status are not taken into account.

The judges instead look for a woman who can strut down the runway oozing with confidence.

She must also be able to create a bold fashion statement for the Versus handphone.

Channel Event And Promotions managing director Alan Woon said 11 contestants were shortlisted from 100 hopefuls.

There were also sub-categories where K. Mala, 20, walked away with the Best Makeover title; Atika Salid, 24, (Miss Photogenic); Alycia Chin, 19, (Popular Queen) and Norhasnida Ahmad, 22, (Best Figure).

Saidatunal Natrah Khalid, 21, won in the Festive Queen and Best Catwalk categories.

Woon said the contest garnered an overwhelming response from the public and a similar contest targeting men is in the pipeline.

"What is unique about Versus Queen is that the event was promoted solely via Facebook.

"The huge and rapid response on the social networking site alone was enough for us to launch the event," Woon added.
