KUCHING: It was a glorious moment for Michelle Oslen Joshua Jimbai when she won the ‘1Dayak Traditional Costume Beauty Pageant’ held at Telang Usan Hotel last Friday night.
The Iban lass wowed judges with her poise and grace, outdoing the other 14 contestants.
The coveted title came with a RM1,000 cash prize, trophy, sash and hamper.
First runner-up Cressida Chambers Ramlee received RM700 in cash prize, trophy, sash and hamper. The Bidayuh maiden was also voted Miss Favourite, one of eight subsidiary titles in the pageant.
Natasha Charmaine Rickson also made a double win as the pageant’s second runner-up winner as well as clinching the Miss Photogenic title. She came away with RM500 in cash prize, trophy, sash and hamper.
The remaining subsidiary titles were won by Dolly Charles Saches (Miss Hospitality), Sharmini Mary Inon (Miss Charming), Hellen Molinie (Miss Outgoing), Elsie Joannes (Miss Creative), Caroline Dewort (Miss Talent) and Frisca Freddy (Miss Intelligent).
Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) president Sidi Munan presented the main prize to Michelle while Telang Usan’s owner, Datuk Stephen Wan Ulok to the other first two runner-ups. The inaugural beauty pageant was hosted by Sadia and coordinated by event manager, Trek Places Services.
All prizes were courtesy of the Nestle Group Sarawak. Other sponsors were Ruai Apai Bar, Pullman Hotel, Grand Margherita Hotel, D’Valentine Audio and Light Professional, Carlsberg Malaysia, Summerjoy, Ravera Holidays Sdn Bhd, Livan Handicrafts, Masta Cargo and Avelly Trading.
Media partners for the event were Cats FM as the official radio station and The Borneo Post and Utusan Borneo as official newspapers.
The Dayak Traditional Costume Beauty Pageant was held in conjunction with Sadia’s 1Dayak Ngancau Tikai Pre-Gawai Dinner 2010.
