SIBU: During the final night of their stay in Sibu, finalists from the Miss Tourism Beauty Pageant were feted by the SHEDA organising committee at RH Hotel Saturday evening.
SHEDA vice president Lawrence Law congratulated the newly-crowned Miss Tourism Queen, Ms Priyanka Shah of India and requested all those who had participated to tell their countrymen to visit Sarawak, and Sibu in particular, in the near future.
He said that there were a lot more to discover about the beautiful greenery and the rich diverse culture of Sarawak. He added that the beauties too could help promote Sarawak’s “My Second Home” programme.
With so much to offer and a potentially good future prospect for the state, Law was confident that Sarawak was an ideal place for investment and good place to call home.
Priyanka promised to help promote Sarawak as “My Second Home” in her country, saying that it would be an honour to do so.
“It’s been a wonderful two weeks here in Sarawak and I have discovered a lot of things about Sarawak that will be attractive to the people from my country to make here their Second Home,” she promised.
She added that being the newly-crowned Miss Tourism 2007, she would be willing to work with the relevant authorities to make Sarawak intimately known in her home country.
India, Priyanka’s home country, has a population of a billion people. Second only to China, the Indian middle class population is growing rapidly, with a lot of disposable incomes.
The Indians, too, are known for being among the best brains in the world, and who have made their presence felt in the Information Technology.
