Malaysian Beauty queen plays angel to the disabled.

PETALING JAYA: Impressed by their optimism and strong will power, Miss Malaysia 2008 Soo Wincci has decided to raise awareness about people with disabilities via the “Be an Angel” campaign.
“Disabled people need our time and care more than monetary donations,” said Soo, one of several celebrities who launched the sixth annual campaign, jointly organised by Beautiful Gate Foundation andSin Chew Daily, here yesterday.
For three days, the public can become angels to the disabled by living with them and getting to know about their daily activities.

Soo said she took part in the campaign as she was impressed by the disabled’s optimism and will to complete a walk from Berjaya Times Square to KLCC last year.
Foundation executive director Sia Siew Chin said the campaign, which started in 2005, had begun to show positive results.
“The friendships between the disabled and volunteers have developed into something more. They have even become business partners,” Sia said. Those interested may call 03-7873 6579.
