NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) - The 2010 Miss Universe Pageant is to be Held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in August and Aired live on NBC, It Was Announced Friday.
The Dominican Republic beat out 12 Other countries in a heated competition to host the first Miss Universe Pageant of the new decade.
The Grand Final of the 59th Edition of the Miss Universe pageant will take place on August 22nd at the magnificent Grand Ballroom Moon Located inside the resort, with a 4,000-seat capacity.
"We're eager to bring the Miss Universe Pageant to the Dominican Republic, and we look forward to Establishing the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino as a premier vacation property and gaming destination in the Caribbean, "said Paula Shugart, President, Miss Universe Organization. "Our focus collaboration with Hard Rock Resorts and Their track record of Creating the best all-inclusive resorts in the Americas, we are confident this project will be a success."
Slated to be re-branded in Summer 2010, the 1800-room Rock Hard Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will combine the Distinctive atmosphere and unparallel guest experience of the Hard Rock brand together with the five-star Moon Palace Resort all-inclusive experience.

During the four-week pageant Period, Thousands of people and media from around the world will visit the Dominican Republic. With over 80 international Delegates, hundreds of millions of viewers will tune-in to watch the telecast.
This year's contest will see the debut of nations like Azerbaijan, Lithuania and Moldova.
